About

Stephen Hunter has rediscovered his passion for creating his own artwork and the results are pure visual magic. These New Orleans inspired moments come to life in a playful, exaggerated style. He credits his wife, Shelby, for being his muse. One day she said, “I have this idea.” She poured out thoughts for unique vignettes that showcase their unique city in a charming, joyful – even surprising – way.

Stephen has been creating imagery all his life. As a kid, his medium was a Ticonderoga pencil on loose-leaf paper, doodling anything and everything that fueled his heart and mind. Later, he would discover more mediums, but they all led to the same result: the joy of a visual story. It didn’t matter what specific method he was using; he just loved the process of getting what was in his head out into the world.

His love for the visual aspect of a story led him to film production at Loyola University, New Orleans. There, a camera, lens, and lights became his new tool set. A few years later he refined his director of photography skills as a cinematography fellow at the prestigious American Film Institute in Los Angeles. A career in film and television ensued.

Professionally, Stephen has cinematized commercials, branded videos, social media, documentaries, celebrities, real people, animals and specials. His creative collaborations include clients such as Disney, the NFL, McDonald’s, Nike, Chevrolet, Chewy.com, Meow Mix, Thompson’s WaterSeal and more. He was the Director of Photography for the ABC Network series Downward Dog, which had the honor of debuting at the Sundance Film Festival.

Now, he is excited to marry his love of photography and art. He hopes these New Orleans sired images celebrate the meaning of enjoying life here in NOLA.

Stephen lives in his beloved city of New Orleans with his wife, three children, and their dog, Duke.
